What is social stencil?

Social Stencil is an engaging evidenced and theory driven program, designed to build social skills, friendship concepts and conflict management skills of children and adolescents.

The program content is sequenced to align with the Social Information Processing Model (SIP Model) (Crick & Dodge, 1994), and influenced by a number of psychological theories, detailed below. The pedagogy of the program is student led-teacher guided, and influenced by art education. This model of teaching is also defined below.

Social Stencil can be delivered by Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Social Workers, Counsellors and more recently, Therapy Assistants in a one-to-one or group context.

The program is scripted with lesson plans and a complete set of visual materials, offering clinician’s and therapy assistants the confidence to either deliver the program as designed, or use the concepts as tools to integrate into their suite of clinical tools.

Social Stencil has undergone research and development for over 15 years. Click on the links below to learn more about the program content, program theory, research and outcomes, and program evolution.
