What is social stencil?

Social Stencil has been supporting schools, practices and their young people since 2008.

Social Stencil is an Australian, evidence-based program teaching children and early adolescents skills for understanding the complexity of emotions, peer relationships, friendship and conflict. Social Stencil is delivered by teachers and allied health clinicians in a whole class or small group setting over 12-18 weeks.

The program focuses on facilitator led whole group discussions, group challenges and arts inspired games to create genuine opportunities to experience, learn and practice the very skills being discussed by the group. Over several weeks, Social Stencil introduces a common vocabulary and visual concepts to explore emotions, peer relationships, friendships and skills to manage conflict independently.

A critical theme of Social Stencil is understanding and appreciating the social and emotional differences between us, reflecting on our own social style, and the opportunity to try new ways too.

On-line facilitator training via a facilitator portal will get you started straight away, or come along to a one-day workshop.

The Social Stencil program consists of step-by-step lesson plans and lesson guides, underpinning theory, downloadable posters and more, all accessed via the online portal.
